FootballMamelodi Sundowns Provides Update on Plagiarism Allegations; Public Responds
- Mamelodi Sundowns was accused of intellectual property theft by a content creator who happens to be a supporter
- The club invited the said person to state his case on one of its public platforms as a response to the potentially embarrassing development
- Reaction to the debacle on social media was mixed, as followers on the Brazilians' Twitter page continue engaging the thread
Mamelodi Sundowns is doing its best to put out a potentially embarrassing development that emerged on popular social media platform Twitter.
The club's initial response, was, to their standards, rather bizarre and spoke to the fact that, they perhaps did not have a social media manager who was representative of their principles and ethics.
Last night, the club further responded to the allegations that it had stolen the ideas of a content creator with a rather different tone to that which was defensive in the beginning.
The change in tone and approach was probably spurred on by the varied views in the thread, some of which, have condemned the team's response.

In the follow-up tweet, the Brazilians stated:
"This unfortunate situation is based on allegations of idea theft, but only one side has been heard so far. The Club only asks for a chance to share the full facts. If the Club is wrong, Thabiso’s full proposal will reveal this."
Sundowns had initially tweeted:
"Interesting concept and name you have there. I wonder who might have sent you a proposal with a very similar concept and name. It is what it is I guess. @Masandawana"
Sundowns fan goes on the offensive
Thabiso Motloung (@Iyzo8) went on Twitter to make the allegations against the club, stating that it had ripped him off of a podcast idea he had pitched to the club.
This post was a retweet of him initially hinting that the club had plagiarised his 'Pitch Side With Sundowns' pitch, with the club's one called The Pitchside Podcast'. The response to the whole furore was interesting.
