Victor Osimhen is nearing a return from a muscle injury that has kept him out of action since the end of the international break, forcing him to miss three games.

In his absence, Napoli have lost twice and won once against Lecce in the Serie A at the weekend.

The two losses have been against AC Milan, who beat them 4-0 in the league and 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg last night.

The Neapolitans will welcome Verona to the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona at the weekend before the second leg against the Rossoneri at the same stadium next Tuesday.

Spalletti confirms Osimhen's return

The team has struggled for goals in the absence of the Nigerian striker, evident in their creating more chances and having more shots than AC Milan last night but failing to score, as reported by ESPN.

Speaking after the 1-0 loss, as quoted by Football Today, Spalletti confirmed Osimhen would be available for the return fixture in Naples - a timely boost for the Partenopei with a mountain to climb.

"Osimhen will 100% be available for the return leg at Maradona on Tuesday. He will be there," the Napoli coach said.

The former Lille striker is leading the charge to the club's first Scudetto since 1990 when Diego Maradona played for the club.

Osimhen has scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 23 games to help the club stay on top of the league log.

Osimhen discusses his face injury

Sports Brief also reported on Osimhen recounting his injury experience after suffering a horrific facial injury in a clash with Milan Skriniar.

He required six plates and 18 screws and has been wearing a protective face mask ever since, which has become something of a trademark.
