Why did Mane punch Sane?

It is believed the Senegalese star was not impressed with the former Man City star approaching him during the encounter over a miscommunication.

Sane was in Bayern’s starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes of the encounter, while Mane was a second-half substitute, having replaced Jamal Musiala in the 69th minute.

An argument started after the Senegalese ran up from behind but the German appeared to expect the former Liverpool man in a different position, which led to a brief exchange of words.

Things reportedly continued in the dressing room after the match. The shouting match then led to fisticuffs between the pair, according to BILD.

The German publication reported that Mane punched Sane before they were separated, with both players said to have been roughed up during the scuffle.

Sane, Mane’s impact vs City

Sane was selected to start by Tuchel and had some eye-catching moments, despite the result, putting City goalkeeper, Ederson to the test.

Mane, meanwhile, had to make do with a spot on the bench and was only introduced with just over 21 minutes left to play.

Sane would have easily won the match ball if he had not given his side problems in the final third, failng to string proper passes together upfront.

Even though he came in just 21 minutes before the end of the match, Mane's experience was needed and many believe the former Liverpool attacker was the better choice as starter.

Mane recounts journey to stardom

Sports Brief also reported on Mane disclosed how he struggled years back in Senegal in his efforts to become a professional footballer, before rising to the zenith of his career.

The reigning best African footballer put on many star performances at Anfield, winning the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League titles during his time with Liverpool, in addition to stellar displays for Bayern Munich and the Senegalese national team.

The Senegal and Bayern Munich star explained that he left his village without telling anyone - except his best friend - as he began a tough quest to become a pro football player.
