Cucurella had failed to track down Rodrygo as the Real Madrid star ran through on goal, leaving Chilwell with no choice but to bring down the Brazilian, leading to a straight red card for the Chelsea wing-back.

The left-back's evident role in his teammate being sent off sparked angry reactions from fans, with many hitting out at the Spanish star for his continued dismal performances.
