Rashford's possible replacement at United

Speaking in his pre-match conference ahead of United's Europa League quarter-final clash against Sevilla, ten Hag hinted at having Anthony Martial replace Rashford.

The French player has spent the better part of this season sidelined with injuries but is slowly fighting his way back to full fitness.

Martial featured against Everton last weekend, scoring one of United's two goals.

Ten Hag has now all but confirmed the forward will lead the attacking line against Sevilla on Thursday.

"The time [Martial] needs for a goal is less. When he’s in the team, we play our best football and we have our best results as a team," ten Hag said via Metro.
"I defend him because I point to the stats and see how he contributes."

Schedule blamed for Rashford injury

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on ten Hag's claims about Rashford's injury, after he hobbled off the pitch.

The United star was substituted moments after assisting his teammate, Martial with a goal against Everton.

Ten Hag was quizzed after the match on the extent of his forward’s injury and said a diagnosis was pending.
