- He pointed out Man City's second goal as the turning point of the first leg, which resulted from a Dayot Upamecano error
- The Germans face an uphill task in the second leg and must inflict a similar loss on the Citizens if they are to advance
Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel has blamed Dayot Upamecano for his side's chastening defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland put the Premier League outfit firmly in the driver's seat ahead of the return leg next Wednesday.
Surprisingly, City often ceded possession to the visitors but duly punished their German counterparts in key moments of the game to secure the one-sided result.
In one of the key phases of the game, Jack Grealish pressed and won the ball from Upamecano before setting up Haaland, who found Bernardo with a weighted pass to nod home for the second goal.

Reviewing the sequence of the move, the 49-year-old manager faulted his French player's indecision as shifting the balance of the game in favour of the home side, per Mundo Deportivo.
"The second goal shifted the momentum when it was our momentum. It was an individual mistake, a decision-making mistake, and at the highest level in world football, it is brutal," Tuchel said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
"This is a mistake that should not happen at this level in this part of the field. Clearly, we were not rewarded for our efforts."
