New Zealand vs Nigeria: Super Falcons Record Win in Friendly Tie

• New Zealand lost in front of their fans against Super Falcons in an international friendly on April 11

The Super Falcons of Nigeria continued with their impressive form this year, after beating New Zealand 3-0 in an international friendly encounter on April 11.

Going into this game, Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum gave assurances that his wards were determined to win to frame themselves well ahead of the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Nigerian women's team started the duel well and almost opened scoring in the fourth minute through Asisat Oshoala, who was set up by Rasheedat Ajibade, but the Barcelona star missed the chance.

Three minutes later, the hosts had their own chance to score but Super Falcons would have their goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie to thank for an incredible save.

Onome Ebi opens Nigeria's scoring

After all their efforts, the Super Falcons eventually got the breakthrough in the 34th minute through captain, Onome Ebi, who fired home a cross from Michelle Alozie.

The first half ended with the Nigerian girls taking a 1-0 lead heading into the dressing room.

In the second half, the Super Falcons came out more aggressively and waited only four minutes before netting their second goal through Jennifer Onyi Echegini.

The international friendly tie eventually ended 3-0 in favour of the Super Falcons, with Desire Oparanozie netting the third goal at the death.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported on Barcelona Femeni forward, Oshoala dazzling in the jersey the Super Falcons will wear at the World Cup, following the kit release by Nike earlier this month.

The Nigerian national women's team captain - also the reigning African female footballer of the year - is preparing for the upcoming 2023 football tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Oshoala, seen posing in a neon-green shirt with matching shorts and socks, has been in incredible form for Barcelona this season and hopes to carry that through to the World Cup.
