Zanaco who are Zambian professional football league side have announced the sacking of former Nigerian international Emmanuel Amunike after eight months after he was hired.
In September 2022, Amunike was appointed as coach on consultancy level by those in charge of Zanaco with the mandate of him changing the fortune of the club.
However, the former Barcelona star was unable to change the situation at the club which forced those in charge to ask him to leave.
While carrying out his duties at Zanaco, the club are winless in their last eight league games with just three points off the relegation zone.

According to the report on Brila FM, Wedson Nyireda has been hired by Zanaco chiefs as coach until the head of the season with the target of him saving the side from relegation.
Zanaco's position on the table
Despite their poor form of run this season, Zanaco are currently occupying 13th position on the Zambian league table with 34 points.
The club also over the weekend suffered a defeat against Napsa Stars.
Amunike has so far not been having it rosy in his coaching career unlike the way he succeeded as a player.
Amunike wants to coach Nigeria
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Emmanuel Amunike stated emphatically that he is interested in coaching the Super Eagles adding that he is capable of changing the fortunes of the three-time African champions.

FootballDuring his active days as a footballer, Amunike was one of the biggest Nigerian players in history as he played for Barcelona and was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 African Cup of Nations.
Interestingly, that same year, Amunike was also named the African Best Footballer thanks to his incredible performances for Zamalek and the national team.
Amunike explained that he wants to be in charge of the Super Eagles on his own and not as an assistant.
