  • Aaron Ramsdale's heroics in stoppage time safeguarded Arsenal's point against Liverpool at Anfield
  • Early goals were cancelled out by Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino right at the end of each half
  • Liverpool had glorious opportunities to win the game but Ramsdale stepped up with world-class saves

Aaron Ramsdale pulled off two brilliant stops to ensure Arsenal left Anfield with a point on April 9.

Ramsdale has been in imperious form for the Gunners since dislodging Bernd Leno as the first-choice goalkeeper, proving instrumental in their title charge this season.

Against Liverpool at Anfield, Ramsdale thwarted Mohamed Salah's curling cross in stoppage time.

The Egyptian took the ball in his strong left foot and looked set to atone for his penalty miss earlier in the second half.

Ramsdale's saves vs Liverpool

Even more agonising for Ramsdale, Salah's shot took a deflection off Gabriel Magalhaes on its way but the England international pushed it wide with a terrific fingertip save.

Minutes later, in the six additional minutes, the keeper came to Arsenal's rescue again, this time denying Ibrahima Konate from point-blank range.

The ball was whipped inside the Gunners' goal, with Darwin Nunez winning the initial header to set up an unmarked Konate. A moment of indecisiveness from the French defender saw him decide to convert the ball with his chest.

With seemingly an open goal in front of him, Liverpool thought they had gotten the winner, only for Ramsdale to shut the effort down right on the line.

Speaking after the game, the Arsenal shot-stopper was impressed with his heroics but gutted his team could not do more with their earlier chances.

"That’s what I’m here to do. I enjoyed playing today. There are no better games to be playing than these, which means so much for both teams. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the three points, but at least my saves have helped us out," he said as quoted by Daily Express.

Arsenal's lead at the top was cut to three points after the two-all stalemate. Defending champions, Manchester City have a game in hand and have a better goal difference.

Arsenal's remaining fixtures

Sports Brief has also reported on Arsenal being set for a busy Premier League schedule that could potentially decide their title fate.

The Gunners have emerged as the firm favourites to win the league crown this term after an incredible run of form and results.

However, Mikel Arteta's charges hit a rough patch in their charge on April 9 at Anfield, after the Reds held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw.
