His struggles sparked rumours Auba could dump the Blues in the summer, with Barcelona believed to be keen to re-sign him after just a year at Stamford Bridge.
Auba, Lampard chemistry
However, that may not come to fruition, with a section of Chelsea fans contending the ex-Dortmund striker is set to play a more prominent role under Frank Lampard.
This is after the two were spotted sharing a light moment during a training session at Cobham.
According to The Sun, Auba was all smiles as he laughed with his new boss, with the heartwarming moment sparking speculation the duo have chemistry.
One fan tweeted:
"Reintegrate Aubameyang immediately. Havertz is simply not good enough for Chelsea."
A second added:
"All I ask of Frank Lampard is to at least have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the match day squad. We have missed so many chances all season & need a striker who can put the chances away."

Fans hostile to Lampard's return
Sports Brief also reported on Chelsea fans reacting to Lampard's return, with many being hostile at the news due to how his previous managerial stint at the club ended.
The Blues legend was first spotted in the director's box with co-owner, Behdad Eghbali, which led to speculation about his return before the team made things official.
Lampard has since taken over the reins at Stamford Bridge as caretaker manager, to allow the club to conduct an intensive search for Graham Potter's true successor.
