FootballDStv Premiership: Phumudzo Manenzhe Breaks Down Key Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates Fixtures
- The race for the DStv Premiership title was effectively over the second it started last August
- However, this does not mean the ending won't be an entertaining one in the race for second place
- Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are in a straight shootout for the runner's up medal
In an ideal world, three teams stuck on the same number of points at the top end of a league table would make for an entertaining title race.
Unfortunately, in this season's DStv Premiership campaign, Orlando Pirates (second), SuperSport United (third) and Kaizer Chiefs, all on 40 points, are instead locked in a race for the runners-up medals. This follows Mamelodi Sundowns winning their sixth consecutive title in record time.
United will take on Maritzburg United this evening, while Pirates and Chiefs will try to navigate past Chippa United and Marumo Gallants respectively, tomorrow.

Gallants work to return captives
Gallants will be distracted as they take on the Amakhosi at Soccer City on Saturday night.
Sports Brief reported that the team's media liaison Rufus Matsena and team physiotherapist Tebogo Amos Dhlomo find themselves as hostages in Libya following their CAF Confederations Cup travels.
They are the unwilling 'guests' of one Dr Ali Elzargha, whose hotel is reportedly owed money by the team as it scrambles to raise the funds.
Matsena and Dlomo have been kept hostage since 19 March, when the rest of the team returned to South Africa following a 4-1 loss to Al Akhdar.

Gallants and Royal AM players fight
Elsewhere, Gallants defeated Royal AM 3-1 in an entertaining DStv Premiership match.
The match descended into chaos deep into the encounter as tempers frayed. A video showed a shoving match occurring on the touchline in front of the Gallants' bench, with Royal AM's Thabo Matlaba seemingly being the source of the fracas.
Thwhihli Thwahla owner Shauwn 'MaMkhize' Mkhize and her entourage, including security staff, were seen getting involved in the ugly scenes.
For his trouble, Matlaba was shown a yellow card, meaning that he would miss the next match. Gallants substitutes Sibusiso Sibeko and Edgar Manaka, on the other hand, were shown red cards.
