It's not common for a South African sportsperson to make the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
Even rarer, will you see a footballer on that list. Thembi Kgatlana has bucked that trend.
FARPost reported that the 26-year-old Banyana Banyana star has been included on the list for 2023. Up until a devastating ankle injury that left her side-lined for a long time during South Africa's run to winning the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last July, she was a total nightmare to opponents on both fronts, at club and international level.

Forbes stated:
"The #FORBESAFRICA30Under30 class of 2023 have not only proven that there can be synergies in creating solutions for their companies, communities, countries and the continent but that they are also, in the process, redefining the idea of what it means to be self-made and relentless."
Forbes will host a summit in Botswana at the end of this month, where the 'Chosen 30' will receive their certificates of recognition.
Interestingly, another deadly women's football star in the form of Asisat Oshoala was included, as per the Daily Post. If she is not smashing in the goals for Nigeria's Super Falcons, the 28-year-old is doing so for Barcelona's women's team.
Oshoala and Kgatlana were two of three football players honoured by Forbes.
