  • Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are understood to be the leading contenders for the role
  • The Blues are currently under the tutelage of Bruno Saltor, who took charge temporarily

Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has reportedly jetted into London to discuss the Chelsea managerial role.

The Stamford Bridge seat is currently vacant following the sacking of Graham Potter on Sunday evening.

Potter was handed his marching orders after a disastrous run of results which culminated in a 2-0 disappointing defeating at the hands of Aston Villa.

It is understood that immediate former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is among the leading contenders for the job.

Luis Enrique in London for Chelsea talks

However, it appears Luis Enrique has taken a step towards taking over at Stamford Bridge.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that the Spanish tactician is in London with his representatives to discuss the Chelsea job.

"Luis Enrique has arrived in London with representative in order to discuss with Chelsea — can confirm he’s in England right now," Fabrizio tweeted.
"Luis Enrique, 100% keen on Chelsea job," he added.

Enrique is currently without a job having been relieved of his duties as Spain's national team head coach back in December.

The tactician, who won the Champions League with Barcelona, was sacked after a dismal World Cup campaign with La Roja in Qatar.

Lampard spotted at Stamford Bridge

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea legend and former manager, Frank Lampard was in attendance at Stamford Bridge last night, the first time since his departure from the club in 2021.

This comes amid news, as reported by Telegraph UK, that the club have officially made contact with axed Bayern Munich boss, Julian Nagelsmann and former Spain manager, Luis Enrique.

Lampard was beloved at Stamford Bridge during his playing days. He finished his career at the club being the all-time top scorer with 211 goals, but his managerial stint did not end well.
