Orlando Pirates legends Rooi Mahamutsa and Sifiso Myeni are fondly remembered by the club's supporters for their contributions.

Today, the 34-year-old and 41-year-old are looking to give another set of supporters across the border something to smile about and cherish forever.

iDiski Times reported that the duo has contributed immensely to Botswana Second Division team VTM Football Club as it chases promotion to the Botswana Premier League. This is remarkable, considering it is just the club's first-ever season in the country's second tier.

With five matches to go, the club is currently in third place on 31 points after 17 matches. Matebele FC is first with 31 points, while Crackit City Polar on 32. The article continued that Myeni has 12 direct goal contributions, while Mahamutsa helped the defence keep goal threats under control.

Having last played for Motsepe Foundation Championship team TS Sporting in 2021, Myeni signed a one-year loan deal with VTM in August last year, as per SowetanLIVE. Mahamutsa was snapped by the club during the January transfer window, apparently also in a coaching capacity.

Myeni is not in financial trouble

Sports Brief reported that Myeni had denied moving across the border because he was in financial trouble last November.

Myeni emphatically denied this in an interview with SowetanLIVE, stating that he was in a sound financial state because of the good decisions he had taken in his career.

Mahamutsa abused by a fan

A month before, Mahamutsa was backed by the public following an unsavoury incident, as was reported by Sports Brief.

A viral video showed him being heckled by a 'fan' as he played in an amateur team at an unnamed location.

According to The Citizen, the man shouted at Mahamutsa derisively about the latter stages of his career, also making personal jokes about his romantic life.
