It has emerged that only four Chelsea stars sent Graham Potter a farewell message upon his sacking at Stamford Bridge.

According to Sky Sports, the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss took charge of the 2021 Champions League winners back in September after the departure of Thomas Tuchel.

However, the Englishman was unable to steady the ship at the Bridge, leading to his unceremonious sacking just hours after he had led Chelsea to a 2-0 shock defeat against Aston Villa.

Four Chelsea stars thanked Potter

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Potter had the privilege of managing a set of world-class players.

However, Sportbible reports that only four of his former players at Chelsea took some time to send him a farewell message.

According to the publication, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Armando Broja, and Noni Madueke were the only squad members who publicly sent the ex-Chelsea boss a thank-you message on social media.

Chilwell was the first to post on his Instagram stories:

"Thank you gaffer," the Englishman posted along with a blue heart.

On his part, Cucurella, who also played under the manager at Brighton said:

"Thanks and best of luck in the future, gaffer."

The lack of reaction from other Chelsea stars could well be an indictment on Potter's troubled reign at the Blues.

Managers who could replace Potter

Sports Brief has also reported that Chelsea have embarked on an elaborate plan to find a permanent replacement for Graham Potter.

The Blues are currently without a head coach at Stamford Bridge after the English manager was shown the door on Sunday evening.

Potter was axed just hours after he had led the west London club to a 2-0 embarrassing defeat against Aston Villa earlier on the weekend.
