Asensio’s loyalty still lies with Real Madrid and the forward will look to move elsewhere when his contract expires in the summer despite being top on the transfer wish list of Xavi.

The 27-year-old has played just 1,179 minutes for Madrid this season, with seven goals and five assists.

Arsenal strongly interested in Marco Asensio

Meanwhile, English Premier League table toppers, Arsenal are strongly interested in signing Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio on a free transfer, Football Today reports.

The Spaniard has made over 250 appearances for Real Madrid in his career but is expected to leave in the summer due to his reduced playing time under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

Following the acquisition of Leandro Trossard in January, Mikel Arteta has mapped out Asensio as a key target for the Gunners for the 2023/24 season and will hope to beat AC Milan to the signature of the Real Madrid forward.

Marco Asensio scores ferocious goal

After huffing and puffing to no avail in the first half, Asensio finally broke the deadlock for Carlo Ancelotti's men seven minutes after recess.

The 27-year-old who has developed a knack for scoring superlative goals pulled one from his locker, scoring a jaw-dropping goal from outside the box which left the Valencia goalkeeper stationary.
