Barcelona have released an official statement demanding the immediate resignation of Javier Tebas as La Liga president, in a shocking twist to the 'Negreira scandal'.
Tebas is facing public scrutiny after it emerged the La Liga chief had provided Spanish prosecutors with false evidence, allegedly in a bid to incriminate Barca in the referee scandal which recently rocked the Catalan club.
According to Football Espana, Barcelona expressed their anger, dismay, and indignation at the claims and called for an explanation from Tebas, who the club insists must step down from his role as head of the Spanish league.
“Given the gravity of the information that has appeared today Monday in La Vanguardia in which the La Liga president, Javier Tebas is linked to the presentation of false evidence to the public prosecutor to incriminate our club, FC Barcelona wishes to express its deepest indignation, anger and dismay."

Barcelona believe that Tebas giving himself powers 'that do not belong to him' is reason alone for him to step down.
“Although also for reasons of dignity and respect for the presidency of La Liga, Mr. Tebas should resign his post.”
Tebas had written a letter to provide evidence to incriminate former Barcelona presidents, Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell in the Negreira case but the evidence has reportedly been proven to be false.

The La Liga chief termed the article by La Vanguardia as fake. It stated he had submitted a false document to prosecutors in the ongoing court case.
