Potter's dismissal came just a day after the Blues staged yet a dismal performance against Aston Villa in a top flight clash.
The Blues recorded a 2-0 humiliating defeat at the hands of Unai Emery's men, with the defeat seeing them drop further down in the Premier League standings.

Klopp speaks on Potter's sacking
Reacting to the news of Potter's sacking, Klopp conceded that his Liverpool future is now the 'elephant in the room'.
The German has enjoyed an illustrious career in the Premier League, winning the Reds a number of trophies, including the Champions League.
However, he now finds himself in a precarious situation due to his side's frustrating campaign this term, which will see the club end the season without a trophy.
Sportbible reports recently addressed his future at Liverpool and told reporters:
"What can I say about that? I think the elephant in the room is why am I still sitting here in this crazy world! [I am] the last man standing!"
"I am aware of the fact I am sitting here because of the past, not because of what we did this season. If it was my first season it would be slightly different," he conceded.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's ex-coach has been linked with the vacant Leicester City job, barely a day after he was dismissed.
Sports Brief reported that the Foxes are considering hiring Potter to succeed Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked on Sunday.
If the former Brighton coach was to take up the reigns at Leicester City, he would immediately face a relegation battle.
