The massive loss led to many fans and pundits stating the Naples outfit had missed Osimhen in the game.

However, according to the report by Complete Sports, Sacchi explained that even the Nigerian striker could not have saved Napoli from the humiliation AC Milan inflicted.

Sacchi's reaction to Napoli loss

“Everyone will say: 'yes, but Osimhen wasn’t playing'. So, let’s immediately clear up that misunderstanding: in this context, it was a Napoli side that was not very gritty, very slow and very predictable, even Osimhen would have struggled. And this explains that one player cannot solve the situation.”

Meanwhile, Napoli are still topping the Serie A table with 71 points after 28 games, with second-placed Lazio on 55 points.

Fans blame Osimhen's absence

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported on football fans on social media reacting after Serie A leaders, Napoli were humiliated at the Diego Maradona Stadium by AC Milan.

The Naples outfit were without their leading marksman and the league's top goal-scorer, Osimhen, who returned to Italy from international duty with an injury.

A Rafael Leao brace and goals from Brahim Diaz and Alex Saelemaekers saw AC Milan through and fans believe the absence of Osimhen was to blame.
