Julian Nagelsmann may no longer be the Bayern Munich boss, but that doesn’t mean he has just been forgotten by the players.

The former manager was sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, with many within the camp said to be shocked by the decision.

Tuchel, a former Borussia Dortmund coach, got his Munich era underway with a 4-2 over his former side.

After the game, defender Benjamin Pavard touched on the new appointment but dedicated the team’s victory to Nagelsmann and his assistants, Bavarian Football Works reported.

“We were very surprised that Nagelsmann and his two assistants were sacked. I’d like to dedicate today’s win to them. But that’s football; we players don’t make these decisions,” he said.

Pavard added Tuchel was very experienced and successful though, so the team just had to move on and continue as they did against Dortmund.

Pavard’s future at Bayern

The defender has been linked with a move away from the club recently, but his contract only expires in 2024.

As noted by Get Football News France, there are no talks yet between him and the club about extending his deal.

“There are currently no talks with the club, we’re focused on our season goals. I’m just trying to play my best football, and win trophies. We’ll see this summer," Pavard stated.

He played the full 90 minutes against Dortmund, but it is too early to say whether he will continue to feature in Tuchel’s plans.

What’s next for Nagelsmann?

The former Bayern Munich coach could soon find himself coaching in the English Premier League.

Renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano stated Nagelsmann is the preferred candidate for Chelsea. The Blues are without a manager after sacking Graham Potter.

6 players wanted Nagelsmann sacked

Julian Nagelsmann's sacking reportedly caused a divide between the club's players, Sports Brief reported.

He took over as Bayern boss in 2021 but was sacked by the club despite his generally impressive victories.

Nagelsmann was replaced by former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain coach, Thomas Tuchel.
