Manchester United find themselves in very peculiar territory after their latest defeat at the hands of Newcastle on Sunday, April 2.
Only a few weeks ago, the Red Devils were high-flying in the league, and there were outside talks that RIK Ten Hag’s men were title contenders.
But fast forward to after the international break and a run of a single point out of a possible nine has had serious implications on their European ambitions.

After the brilliance of David De Gea kept United in the game, Newcastle picked up where they left off as Joe Willock found the net in the 65th minute as reported on BBC.
Callum Wilson then made sure of the result with two minutes of regular time to play with a well-placed header to compound more misery on United, who are now winless in their last three league outings.
What defeat means for United
The 2-0 defeat meant United have not scored in their last three Premier League games, and that will have some serious ramifications on their top four hopes.
Newcastle are now third on the log with 50 points, and are ahead of United who have the same number of points thanks to a far superior goal difference.

FootballTottenham, who recently sacked Antonio Conte, are in fifth place with 49 points, just one behind United and Newcastle, although they have played a game more.
Should Spurs, under the guidance of Cristian Stellini, record a positive result against Everton, United will fall to fifth on the log, once again because of their inferior goal difference.
Chelsea sack Potter
Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on the surprising dismissal of Graham Potter by Chelsea.
Potter, who replaced Thomas Tuchel in September 2022, leaves the club at the back of another lowly defeat, this time at the hands of Aston Villa.
