Bayern Munich's squad is reportedly split over the club's decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann as manager.

Nagelsmann, who took over as Bayern boss in 2021, was ruthlessly sacked by the Bavarians despite leading the club to a quarterfinal berth in the Champions League and helping the club win its tenth successive Bundesliga crown last term.

The 35-year-old was replaced by former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain manager, Thomas Tuchel after his contract with the reigning Bundesliga leaders was terminated on March 24.

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Nagelsmann's journalist girlfriend was blamed for her partner's sudden sacking.

It was claimed that Lena Wurzenberger's relationship with the ex-Bavarians coach was said to have led to trust issues among the playing body.

However, German Publication Bild, noted by Marca, has disclosed that there are 'pro and anti-Nagelsmann factions' that have been formed inside the dressing room.

The reports further state that up to six important players in the dressing room wanted Nagelsmann fired because they had no relationship with him.

Captain Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich are among the players who wanted the German tactician to lose his job. The goalkeeping duo were not happy after Nagelsmann dismissed goalkeeping coach Tony Tapalovic after almost 12 years at the club.

Other players who reportedly had a bad relationship with the gaffer were Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Sadio Mane.

The Bild further added that the list could even be seven, considering that Joao Cancelo has already complained about the coach.

Bayern dropped to second place in the Bundesliga before Nagelsmann was fired and they now trail Borussia Dortmund by one point.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are disappointed with their former manager Tuchel for making his interest in a current club coach, Anthony Barry public, The Telegraph reports.

Barry is said to be interested in reuniting with Tuchel in Germany, but Bayern Munich is yet to offer the Blues any compensation for the highly rated manager.

In his first press conference as Bayern manager since succeeding Nagelsmann, Tuchel confirmed his desire to hire Barry as a member of his backroom team.
