A Naples resident currently working in Abuja, Nigeria, has stated it is a huge security problem whenever Victor Osimhen walks on the streets of the city.
The resident, whose name is Pablo, is surprised that Nigerians are not ‘head over heels’ about the striker, who is leading the scoring chart in the Serie A this season with 21 goals.
Osimhen arrived at Napoli from French club, Lille in the summer of 2020 in a deal worth an initial €50 million plus add-ons.
Pablo described how the striker had established a relationship with fans of the club and residents of Naples. In an exclusive chat with Sports Brief, he said:

“I am sure Osimhen has a problem in Naples because people love him so much. He can't walk in the streets; it will be a security problem if he goes around. If you go to Naples and tell them you're the brother of Osimhen, everywhere will be free for you."
Pablo also expressed disappointment that Nigerians are not ‘crazy’ about the 24-year-old, comparing how the striker is received in Italy to his reception in his home country.
“I'm very disappointed with the Nigerian people because I live here [Nigeria] and people are not so much in love with Osimhen. Nobody is in love with the Italian league."
“They just love him [in Napoli]. This is his third year in Naples and he is a simple guy who helps the Nigerian community close to the train station in Naples."

Sports Brief previously reported on Manchester United prioritising Osimhen's signing this summer, with Erik ten Hag keen to bring in someone to strengthen the attack.
It has been widely published that the Nigerian marksman remains top of the Red Devils' transfer list alongside Tottenham's Harry Kane and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.
While Napoli are said to be unwilling to part company with Osimhen, fresh reports indicate the Italian giants would now consider offers in the region of €150 million.
