Wanyama vs Origi: Kenyans brand Champions League final mashemeji derby
Nothing gets local football fans going as much as the good old classic mashemeji derby that features AFC Leopards challenge old rivals Gor Mahia for bragging rights.
That is why Kenya's Victor Wanyama and Divock Origi will find themselves playing for more than just the Champion League title in the final, after the two players' clubs made it through to the semi-finals.

These two clubs are the most popular in the country and share a rich history between them.
Both Gor and Leopards are community based clubs, with Gor's foundation based in the Luo community and Leopards' in the neighbouring Luhya community.

Interestingly, Origi's father Mike Origi is of Luo ethnicity and featured for K'Ogalo himself during his prime years as a footballer.
While Wanyama's father Noah Wanyama is Luhya and played for Ingwe.

Both men are Harambee Stars veterans and were budding footballers.
And now their sons will face one another when Origi's Liverpool challenges Wanyama's Tottenham for the Champions League title in Madrid, Spain.

The spectacle leaves Kenyans feeling they truly have a special place in the tournament's final owing to the presence of these two men carrying Kenyan football heritage on their shoulders.
Origi was phenomenal for Liverpool and netted an important brace to inspire liverpool's comeback while also scoring crucial league goals against Everton And newcastle despite limited playing time.
And Wanyama has served as Mauricio Pochettino's trusted midfielder throughout this season, although injuries sidelined him for sometime earlier in their campaign.
We can expect to see one or two Kenyan flags flying high from stands at the Wanda Metropolitano on June 1 when both teams meet for the all-English final.
