The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson had a blunt response when an interviewer asked him who he would rather see win the Premier League title between Arsenal and Manchester City.

Arsenal and City are embroiled in an intense two-horse race for the title, with the Gunners enjoying a five-point lead at the top after 27 rounds of matches.

Asked to pick between Manchester City and Arsenal for the title, Ferguson, who won the Premier League 13 times with United, gave a wry smile and said: “Not interested”, as quoted on The Mirror.

His response will surely have delighted Manchester United fans, who last tasted Premier League title success in 2013, when Ferguson was managing in his final season with the club.

Arsenal have chance to establish distance

As far as the title race is concerned, Arsenal will have the chance to move eight points clear of Manchester City, who will not play in the Premier League this weekend.

The Gunners will come up against Crystal Palace on Sunday, while Manchester City will be in FA Cup action.

How many points do Arsenal need to win PL?

Sports Brief also reported on the number of points Arsenal needs in order to win the Premier League with 11 matches to go.

Historically, the most competitive title races have seen the winners accrue an impressive number of points, but 90 has always been the magic number.

According to Premier League's official website, Arsenal currently have 66 points after 27 games and they need a maximum of 25 points out of a possible remaining 33 to ensure they are champions.
