FootballHaaland vs Mbappe: Rivalry Renewed as Man City Star Breaks Little-Known Record With 5 Goals vs Leipzig
- Erling Haaland scored five goals for Manchester City in the 7-0 demolition of RB Leipzig
- The Norwegian matched and broke a couple of records with his majestic display
- He also broke a little-known record of Kylian Mbappe which indicates the direction of a football rivalry in the coming years
Kylian Mbappe seems to be in a league of his own and many forget that he's still a youngster despite having played in his second World Cup final in Qatar last December.
The duopoly created by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is gradually coming to an end, with the two stars ageing and nearing retirement from the game.
Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are the two players tipped to take on the rivalry for the next few years, and the early signs suggest they could do just that.
Haaland breaks Mbappe's record
According to Mirror UK, Haaland became the fastest player to score 30 UEFA Champions goals, doing so in just 25 games after hitting five past RB Leipzig last night.

He also became the third player to score five goals in a single Champions League game after Luiz Adrian (Bate Borisov vs Shakhtar Donetsk) in 2014 and Lionel Messi (Barcelona vs Bayer Leverkusen) in 2012.
Haaland cannot help but touch Kylian Mbappe any time he breaks a record, and yesterday he erased another of the French star's records.
As reported by Goal, the former Borussia Dortmund striker became the youngest player to score 30 UCL goals, doing so at 22 years 236 days, surpassing the PSG attacker who did at 22 years 352 days.
Man City star Haaland is here to stay insists Guardiola
FootballGuardiola explains Haaland's substitution
Pep Guardiola hauled off Haaland in the 63rd minute and replaced him with Argentine striker Julian Alvarez. The Norwegian was not too pleased with the substitution.
He told Pep he wanted to score a double hat-trick, but Guardiola has revealed what he told him, as reported by Sports Brief. The manager claimed it would be boring if he set a new record at 23, 23, and he should spend the rest of his career chasing the target.
Pep does not deny his love for Lionel Messi, and fans have made a theory he did not want the 23-year- old to break the record of his beloved Messi and hence his substitution.
