  • Cristiano Ronaldo and his ex-Real Madrid teammate Marcelo could reunite at Brazilian club Fluminese
  • The duo, who have become more like brothers, enjoyed remarkable success in the Spanish capital together
  • Boasting 25 trophies during his stint with Real Madrid, Marcelo is the club's most decorated player in history

Marcelo Vieira has urged Cristiano Ronaldo to join Fluminese in case he wants to reconsider his future at Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo and Marcelo spent nine years together at Real Madrid, where the pair formed a near-perfect alliance both on and off the pitch before embarking on separate paths.

The Portuguese phenomenon is currently on the books of Al-Nassr, while the marauding full-back recently rejoined his boyhood club in Brazil, Fluminese.

Earlier, reports suggested Ronaldo wanted his friend to join him in Saudi Arabia. However, it appears the latter is the one angling for a reunion in South America, per Besoccer.

The 34-year-old revealed he suggested the idea to Ronaldo via a message during recent their conversation.

"I sent a message to Cristiano and said, "Cris, if you want, you can come here [Fluminense] whenever you want. You will be happy," Marcelo disclosed, as quoted by CX.
"Cristiano and I talk about children because our children are friends, as well as our wives. He is a brother to me," he added.

Marcelo returns to boyhood club

Marcelo signed for Fluminese on a free transfer. The former Real Madrid defender started his career at the club before he moved to Europe.

As noted by Transfermrkt, Marcelo started out with Fluminese's youth side before being promoted to the first team in 2005.

Two years later, he was sold to Real Madrid where he spent 15 years before signing as a free agent for Olympiacos in Greece.

Marcelo names his toughest opponent

While the Real Madrid legend is keen on a reunion with Ronaldo, Marcelo named Lionel Messi the toughest opponent he has ever faced, Sports Brief reported.

The 34-year-old, who spent almost two decades with Los Blancos, crossed paths with the Argentine numerous times while he was a famed member of Barcelona.

Marcelo picked the current Paris Saint-Germain star as the fiercest he encountered during an interview session at his unveiling as a new Fluminese player.
