“I would advise Bellingham to stay in Dortmund; he is still young and can still sign three of four top contracts in the future," he said.
He believes that, unlike Haaland, Bellingham has a stronger connection with the club and receives more trust and support from them.
In advising the star to stay in Germany, Effenberg used the example of Jadon Sancho.
"I hope for his own development that he decides to stay. And there is no guarantee elsewhere either. Sancho is the best example of this.”
Sancho was one of Dortmund's many talented youngsters who was tipped to have a bright future ahead of him. He scored 50 goals in 137 games for the German side but has only scored 10 goals in 61 appearances for the English side, Transfermarkt reported.
The Red Devils man has failed to live up to the hype after moving, and Effenberg is worried Bellingham could end up the same way.
