  • Chelsea won their third game in a row as they saw off Leicester 3-1 at the King Power stadium
  • Their mini revival continued thanks to some heroics from their new boy Mykhailo Mudryk
  • Mudryk thought he had his first goal for Chelsea but his effort was ruled out for offside
  • Prior to realizing his goal had been ruled out, an excited Mudryk celebrated in Didier Drogba fashion
  • The celebration incidentally came on Drogba’s 45th birthday

Chelsea fans are convinced Mykhailo Mudryk paid tribute to Didier Drogba with his goal celebration on Saturday, March 11.

The Blues went into the game buoyed from their Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund in midweek, and started the game brightly, with Ben Chilwell finding the net against his former club.

Joao Felix also came close but his effort hit the woodwork before Leicester’s Patson Daka rifled home an excellent equaliser.

Kai Havertz however restored the lead before half time with a clever dinked finish as he benefited from Enzo Fernandez’s aerial ball.

Unlucky Mudryk does the Drogba

In the second half, Mudryk, who was a live wire throughout the game, thought he had found the net with a decent effort, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

No one gave the Ukranian the memo in the initial moments after scoring as he emphatically ran to the corner flag in celebration before knee-sliding and thrusting his hands in celebration.

The celebration was reminiscent of Didier Drogba, who had a knack of celebrating his goals in similar fashion when he was at Chelsea.

Incidentally, the celebration came on Drogba;s birthday as the Ivory Coast international was born on March 11. He turns 45.

“Man gave us the King Drogba celebration, proper Chels,” One fan @FilthyMudryk said.
“That Drogba celebration from Mudryk though. He deserves a goal for that blistering pace.”

“Mudryk with a drogba celebration on the big man’s bday even tho he was offside yeah Idc that was cool” @TheRealFutbolTJ said.
