According to Sportskeeda, Real Madrid has agreed to offer Modric a new one-year contract extension on the condition that he retires from the Croatian national team.

Modric’s current contract with Los Blancos expires in June 2023 and the club is willing to extend the 37-year-old's deal only if he walks away from international football.
Leaders in Madrid made the choice after noticing a sharp decline in Modric's energy levels following the 2022 World Cup, where he helped Croatia finish third.
