  • Arsenal are aiming to win their first league title in 19 years since the 2003/04 Invincibles
  • Mikel Arteta has assembled quite a young team for this mission with a mix of experienced players
  • Defender Ben White falls into both sides and is currently the most expensive player in the team

Arsenal defender Benjamin White has made an interesting admission about his career, claiming he would have been a gardener if he was not a professional footballer.

Mikel Arteta has assembled a young team with a mix of experience to help the Gunners win their first league title in 19 years, the first since Arsene Wenger led the team to an unbeaten season in the 2003/04 season.

The English defender is both young and experienced, providing a balance of the criteria required by Arteta in building a sustainable squad that will win titles and play together for a long time.

White could've been a gardener

After the loan departure of Nicolas Pepe, White, at 25, is the most expensive player in the squad, having signed from Brighton for £50m in July 2021, as reported by ESPN.

The defender has revealed in Arsenal's matchday programme, as quoted by Sport Bible, that he could have taken a different career path and adds that it is why he has had less pressure in his career as he could have been happy elsewhere.

''I'd probably be working with my dad if I wasn't a footballer. He used to be a gardener. I think that's why there was never any pressure on me growing up because I would have been very happy with that,'' he said
''I went into football but it would have been no problem for me to do what my dad did,'' he added.

White does not watch football

The versatile defender, who plays as a right-back for Arteta can also play in central defence, claimed he does not watch football as he gets bored watching it.

''I never used to watch football much anyway. If it was on when I was a kid, after five minutes I'd get bored of it and go outside to play football. I didn't really watch it, I'd much rather do it. Even now, I don't watch football really,'' he continued.
''I watch my own clips and my own footage to help me improve but I wouldn't watch a game for fun.''

White mocks Bournemouth goalkeeper

Sports Brief earlier reported that White mocked Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto after Arsenal's dramatic late comeback win over the relegation-threatened side.

The Spanish goalkeeper employed time-wasting tactics to help his side secure a point which angered White, who celebrated Reiss Nelson's last-minute win in front of the goalkeeper.
