Messi scored PSG's opening goal against Nantes at the Parc des Princes.

It was the 799th goal of his career in all competitions.

Messi found the net in the 12th minute with a neat near-post finish after making a late run into the box to get on the end of a Nuno Mendes cross.

Messi congratulates Mbappe

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe's record-breaking goal against Nantes on Saturday evening has been recognized by teammate Lionel Messi.

Both Mbappe and Messi scored a goal each as Paris Saint-Germain tightened their grip at the summit of Ligue 1 with a 4-2 win over Nantes.

Mbappe's goal, the icing on PSG's victory, ensured the Frenchman became the club's all-time top scorer, overtaking Edinson Cavani in the process, ESPN reports.

Nike commends Mbappe

Sports Brief reported that American sportswear manufacturing giant Nike have commended Kylian Mbappe following his recent milestone at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman became the all-time top scorer in the history of PSG with a staggering 201 goals in 247 matches after scoring the fourth goal in his side's 4-2 win over Nantes on Saturday evening.

Mbappe cemented his position among the pantheons of PSG greats when he drew level with Edinson Cavani last week before going one better to own the record.
