Real Madrid felt the Barcelona midfielder was too physical and should have gotten more than just the yellow card he had against the reigning Spanish champions.
Others believe the referee was too lenient on the Barcelona midfielder.
Barcelona fans however came to Gavi’s defence as they believe the 18-year-old midfielder is only paying Real Madrid back.
Barcelona is expected to feature when both sides meet again in the reverse fixture in Camp Nou in April.
Gavi’s records of fouls keep rising
Meanwhile, Gavi is not afraid to commit a foul or get booked by the referee in order to give Barcelona the advantage in a football match.
According to AS Soccer, the 18-year-old has already bagged 59 fouls in 27 games so far this season and was again booked for the Catalans when they faced Real Madrid.
Gavi missed Barcelona’s Europa League second-leg knockout game against Manchester United after he was booked for grabbing Bruno Fernandes in the first leg and dragging him around.
