Pele has left a lasting legacy in the footballing world.
The Brazilian great was remembered by FIFA for his legacy in the sport at FIFA’s The Best Awards in Paris.
Pele’s memory was honoured with a special tribute video at the event before Ronaldo de Lima paid tribute to the great in an emotional speech.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino also paid tribute to the Brazilian great.

“Pele is football, Pele is simply football. Pele is eternal. He’s with us and will always be with us,” he said.
Pele’s wife, Marcia Aoki, then took the stage where she received a special award from Ronaldo.
Aoki also gave a short but powerful speech about the legend that is Pele.
Pele's achievements
Widely considered one of the greatest players of all time, Pele won numerous awards while he was alive.
In 1999 he was named the Athlete of the Century and was also included in Time Magazine’s 100 most important people of the 20th century. A year later the International Federation of Football History and Statistics voted him the World Player of the Century.
Despite his amazing career, O Rei has never won the coveted Ballon d’Or award. Before 1995, non-European footballers were not eligible to win the award. Likewise, Pele never got to win The Best award as it was only founded in 2017.

Messi wins The Best award
Messi has been crowned the 2022 FIFA Best Player of the Year at the awards ceremony held in Paris, France on Monday, February 27.
The Argentine beat PSG teammate, Mbappe and Real Madrid star, Karim Benzema to win the top award, Sports Brief also reported.
Messi led Argentina to win a third World Cup in Qatar after netting in all knockout games, including a brace in the final against France.
