Messi’s current deal with PSG runs out at the end of the season, but so far the Ligue 1 giants have apparently failed to convince him to pen a new deal.

Per Forbes, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is keen on leaving the French champions with a plethora of options on stand-by to secure his services.

But according to El Nacional, noted by Sportskeeda, a number of Barcelona players oppose the return of Messi.

Per the reports, Polish striker Lewandowsi is not happy with a potential reunion of Messi, as he was promised the role of protagonist when he joined the Blaugrana last summer.

It is claimed that Lewandowski has communicated his feelings with the board and is hopeful they will appreciate his efforts since arriving at the Camp Nou.

The ex-Bayern Munich forward has notched 25 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions.

Messi backs Barcelona coach

Barcelona's success under Xavi Hernandez will come as no surprise to Messi, Sports Brief has reported.

The former La Blaugrana superstar previously predicted the Spaniard was the right man for the coaching job.

"[Barcelona will] improve thanks to him. He's a manager who knows how to proceed in these situations..."

Messi reunites with Barcelona teammates

Sports Brief also reported that Lionel Messi reunited with his former Barcelona teammates, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, on his return to Catalonia.

The 35-year-old arrived in the place he calls 'home' on the back of scoring a last-minute free kick to hand Paris Saint-Germain victory against Lille in a seven-goal thriller.

He made good use of his break afforded him by head coach Christophe Galtier following his match-winning heroics.
