The former Celtic star has been limited to just two Premier League appearances this season, with his last coming in the 2-1 win over Southampton back in September.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho at the London outfit has not eased up Wanyama’s woes as he has featured only once as a second half substitute under the Portuguese.

The Kenyan skipper was widely linked with a summer transfer move to Club Brugge, but the deal fell through in the final days of the window.

However, the defensive midfielder could be afforded a lifeline at Hertha Berlin, with former Tottenham Hotspur forward Jurgen Klinsmann who was recently appointed the club's manager said to be interested in a January move for Wanyama.

The German outfit is currently embroiled in a relegation dog fight, forcing the club to enter the January market in search of new legs to steer them out of relegation.

Wanyama was a vital cog in Spurs midfield in the 2016-2017 season but a series of knee injuries has hampered his progress ever since.

This will not be the first time that the former Southampton midfielder has attracted interest from Germany as he was linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund back in June 2018.
