Olunga scores for Al-Duhail

Olunga broke the deadlock for his side only in the 75th minute despite Al-Duhail controlling major parts of the game.

His first goal came from an excellent corner delivery from Edmilson Junior, with the 28-year-old powering in a header.

Minutes later, he took full advantage of a defensive mix-up to slot in his side's second and eventual winner. However, Al-Shabab threatened a late comeback after Saeed al-Rubaei pulled one back in stoppage time.

The winner will face the Urawa Reds of Japan, who have already qualified for the finals after beating South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai.

Kenyans question Olunga's goal prowess

Sports Brief previously reported that Qatar's embarrassing defeat in their first-ever World Cup match raised more questions than answers.

The Middle Eastern country became the first host country to lose their opening game after going 2-0 down to Ecuador on November 20, 2022.

Amidst the back and forth regarding the opening game, Kenyan fans waded into the debate with Olunga's name repeatedly brought up.

Olunga, who is also the national team captain, plies his professional trade with Qatari side where he has enjoyed immense success since signing up.
