It is clear that Sergio Ramos has made up his mind about who the greatest player of all time is.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender officially retired from international duty on Thursday, after Spain's new coach, Luis de la Fuente apparently told the defender he did not count on him.
In his open retirement letter posted on Instagram, the 36-year-old thanked various teammates and former colleagues along the way in his career.
One of those teammates is PSG teammate, Lionel Messi. Ramos and the Argentine magician joined the French giants in 2021, forming a bond which has endured for two seasons now.

The pair had been arch-rivals during their spell in Spain while playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, before moving to the Ligue 1 to both join the Parisians.
"I look with admiration and envy at Modric, Messi, Pepe... the essence, tradition, values, meritocracy and justice in football. Unfortunately, it will not be like that for me, because football is not always fair and football is never just football," Ramos posted.
At the same time, Ramos didn't mention longtime teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo who is still active on the international stage.
Ramos inspires PSG teammates
Ramos is not ruling out PSG's chances of quarter-final progression in the UEFA Champions League, despite an agonising 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
A Kingsley Coman second-half goal at Parc des Princes meant the Parisians have to overcome the result in the reverse fixture if they are to advance.
Ramos, who was one of PSG’s standout performers on Tuesday night, has now assured the club’s supporters that players were ready to fight to the end.

Sports Brief also reported on PSG's defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League round-of-16 first-leg leaving Ramos in a sour mood.
The Parisians lost 1-0 in front of their home supporters at the Parc des Princes, leaving them on the brink of an early UCL exit this season.
After the game, the team went over to the PSG Ultras to applaud the die-hard fans, but Ramos ended up shoving a photographer in the process.
