The rise of women's football over the past decade has been tremendous, with conscious efforts put into financing and marketing.

The attention female football gets has also been helped by the presence of women footballers on social media, who dazzle fans with their beauty through gorgeous photographs or simply connect with fans through their posts.

One famous female footballer believes there are burdens on women players from the fans, saying supporters sometimes forget what they do and instead focus on their beautiful and sometimes revealing images.

Lehmann discusses her socialite status

Aston Villa women star, Alisha Lehmann, while speaking to talkSPORT, said sometimes fans forget she plays football and focus more on her socialite side.

“Some people just see Instagram and social media and don’t even know I actually play football. When I don’t post a football picture for a week, people say, ‘oh she doesn’t even play’,’’ she said.
“I think sometimes it’s a bit hard because obviously, I play like I train every day, like everyone else, like I play every weekend and sometimes it’s hard because they make a picture of you. I’m a proper footballer. I work hard every day. I want to be the best version of myself in football and that’s my first priority in life,” she added.

At the time of filing this report, she has 11.9 million followers on Instagram, more than retired tennis legend, Roger Federer who has 11.3 mil followers - a testament to her popularity on social media.

Lehmann receives tennis offer

As reported by Sport Bible, the 24-year-old Swiss footballer received an offer to switch sports from Greek tennis player, Petros Tsitsipas.

Lehmann uploaded a picture of herself playing tennis on international duty and the tennis star took the chance to ask if they could play mixed doubles, to which she responded: 'Let's go'.

Douglas Luiz defends Lehmann

Lehmann is in a relationship with Aston Villa men's team midfielder, Douglas Luiz and the two show each other off on social media.

Sports Brief earlier reported on the Brazilian blasting a journalist after a video was uploaded of his WAG with a suggestive caption.
