Manchester City defender João Cancelo left the club in the January transfer window, sealing a shock move away to German champions Bayern Munich with an option to buy in the summer for £70m.

There were reports of a broken relationship between the Portuguese and manager Pep Guardiola which led to his departure, even though both have downplayed it.

The versatile defender, who can also play as a midfielder, is gradually settling into life in Germany and has thrown a shot at his former club with his recent comment.

In an interview with Portuguese media, O Jogo, as quoted by iMiaSanMia, the former Juventus player, aimed a shot at City for not having a Champions League trophy in their cabinet.

''Bayern is always a candidate to win everything and to win the Champions League. It's part of the history of the club. They have 6 Champions Leagues, second only to Real Madrid and AC Milan, same as Liverpool,'' he said.
''It's a team whose goal every year is always to try to win the Champions League, although this is a competition that will never be an obligation for any club, as it is such a difficult competition. But I'm sure it's one of the goals of the season,'' he added.

Forest fans crazy chant at City fans

Cancelo is not the only one to have taken a swipe at Manchester City this week. The Citizens drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Forest are two-time UEFA Champions League winners and rubbed it on the face of the City fans during the game, as reported by Sports Brief, chanting, 'European champions, you'll never sing that.'

The Etihad inhabitants tried to fight back by telling the Forest fans they were not even born, and they got a response that they won't be alive when their team finally won.
