  • Another parent-and-son combo is threatening to bring a Premier Soccer League club into disrepute
  • This time it was the turn of Golden Arrows to be put under the spotlight for alleged favouritism
  • Arrows player Lungelo Dube, son of Mato Madlala, was allegedly displeased at being substituted

There was drama apparently during the DStv Premiership classic between Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows last Sunday - apparently.

Abafana Bes'thende defeated the Amakhosi 3-2 in an end-to-end battle at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

During this epic, Lungelo Dube - son of Golden Arrows owner, Mato Madlala - was subbed off in the 35th minute of the match as his team was overrun by the hosts, with his replacement, Siyabonga Khumalo helping to stem the flow.

“He was visibly unhappy and didn’t come back to sit on the bench after half-time. He just left and I am not sure if he sat in the stands or went to the team bus. But he was not there.”

Earlier this month, The South African reported that Royal AM chairman, Andile Mpisane spat out his proverbial dummy following his disastrous and much talked-about cameo as captain of the DStv Diski Challenge team.

He was subbed off having started in the 1-1 draw against AmaZulu, proving ineffective in the 60 minutes that he played.

Maduka praises Mpisane

As far as Royal AM coach, John Maduka is concerned, Mpisane can break through into the first team's starting line-up, Sports Brief reported.

The 21-year-old chairman put on a disastrous performance last Saturday when he started as captain of the DStv Diski Challenge team which drew 1-1 against AmaZulu.

He is yet to make an official appearance for the senior team, despite being on the bench, but Maduka believes Mpisane had the qualities to make it into the first team.

Mpisane indulges in kasi flava

Admittedly, Mpisane does know how to entertain with the ball at his feet, Sports Brief also reported,

A video has gone viral on Twitter of Royal AM's chairman indulging in kasi flava showboating for the club's DStv Diski Challenge team against KwaZulu-Natal rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows. The derby match would eventually end in a 1-1 draw.

Mpisane has been a subject of much debate and derision throughout the season, having been an unused substitute in the senior team.
