  • Paris Saint-Germain still have to play Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League tie
  • Neymar could be absent for PSG's next Champions League game after picking up an ankle injury
  • Football journalist Daniel Riolo believes that Neymar and Lionel Messi don't have any respect for PSG

Pauleta is hopeful that one day Paris Saint-Germain will win the UEFA Champions League.

The club legend opened up on the side's chances of lifting the trophy, admitting it might be a bit difficult to achieve this season.

PSG are still in with a shot of progressing to the next round of the tournament, as they have to still face Bayern Munich in the second leg. The game will take place on March 8 in Germany, with the Bundesliga side leading 1-0.

Pauleta shares his thoughts

While admitting that PSG are favourites heading into most games because of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, he also conceded the Bavarians were one of those teams that were always a threat, PSG Talk reported.

“PSG always has to be one of the favourites because of Neymar, Messi and Mbappe. But the big favourites are always Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Those clubs are always the favourites because they are always there."

As noted by Transfermrkt, Pauleta played 211 games for the French side, scoring 109 goals in the process. Having spent five years at the Parisians, Pauleta knows what the side is capable of.

He added that sides like Manchester City, Chelsea and his beloved PSG also stand a good chance because of the money spent to improve their sides, but added it would be difficult for the Ligue 1 giants to go all the way.

PSG's difficult season

PSG have had a mixed bag of results this season and failed to fire on more than one occasion despite their formidable front three.

They could also be without Neymar for the game against Munich after the Brazilian suffered an ankle injury against Lille.

Riolo blasts Neymar and Messi

One person who probably isn't too bothered by Neymar's injury is Daniel Riolo.

The football journalist recently criticised the Brazilian, saying he and Messi didn't respect the club, SportsKeeda reported.

"If you are a PSG supporter today, you cannot accept that players like Neymar or Messi have no respect for your club. If you accept that, you are a supporter which is worth nothing," he was quoted as saying.

Neymar won't leave PSG

As reported by Sports Brief, Neymar has unfinished business at PSG and is not willing to leave the French champions - even if close ally, Messi leaves.

The Argentine has been touted to be on his way out of the French capital despite only linking up with his former Barcelona teammate in 2021.

Neymar wants to win over his critics and is eager to help deliver long-awaited European glory to PSG by winning the UEFA Champions League.
