  • Liverpool were beaten 5-2 by Real Madrid at Anfield in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16
  • The match was a contest between last year'sfinalists but it looked far removed from a competitive game
  • Jurgen Klopp had more things to worry about than the result after a question in his post-match conference

Liverpool got another chance to revenge against Real Madrid but - yet again - could do nothing of the sort.

The Spanish giants defeated the Reds in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final and despite vowing revenge in the 2022 final, the Anfield side were narrowly beaten.

Last night's game was more of a lesson for the English club, and it was far from a competition, as the scoreline suggests.

Jurgen Klopp had more to worry about during the post-match conference despite the embarrassing result, as he was met with unrelated questions by a Spanish journalist, which made him lose his cool.

Klopp snaps at Spanish journalist

Real Madrid veteran midfielder, Luka Modric spoke about his contract situation before the game, as reported by Athletic UK.

After the Croatian put on a fantastic display at Anfield, it was Klopp who got asked about the player's contract situation.

The Liverpool manager nearly lost his cool with the journalist, retorting it was not his problem and he had more to worry about, as quoted by Metro UK.

‘‘Oh god. You obviously are not too much interested in my problems, so this is not one of my problems. Yeah, fantastic player and I’m pretty sure Carlo [Ancelotti] and Real Madrid will do the right thing for the right player,’’ he snapped.

Klopp must do the unthinkable in two weeks' time when he and his team visit Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, if they are to proceed to the next round.

Klopp cuts journalist short

It was not the first time he lost his cool with a journalist during a presser. Ahead of the Merseyside derby last week, Klopp cut a journalist short while asking a question.

As reported by Sports Brief, the German manager was quizzed on why captain, Jordan Henderson no longer started games for the club and Klopp took offence.

He yelled that he did not like the question, before going on a rant in which he explained the skipper was simply not match-fit and no other issues were at play.
