Former Nigerian international, Garba Lawal has stated emphatically that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen would be named the Africa's next best player if his team wins the Serie A title this term.
The Super Eagles man has been in wonderful form in the Italian league this season, scoring 18 goals for the Partenopei and 20 goals across all competitions.
After 23 games, Napoli are also topping the Serie A standings and with 15 games left to the end of the term, are on the road to success.
Sports Brief spoke with Lawal, who played 57 games for the Super Eagles. He is impressed with the form of Osimhen.

The former Roda JC Kerkrade star stated the striker would be crowned the next best player from Africa if he continued to impress on the pitch.
'Osimhen ahead of all competitors'
"Osimhen has been making everyone proud and I must commend him for his brilliant effort in putting the name of Nigeria in positive direction," Lawal said.
"If he should win the Serie A title and continue scoring, then he will become the next Africa's best footballer because he is ahead of all competitors now."
Which Nigerian won the award?
The last Nigerian footballer to win the award for the best African player of the year was Nwankwo Kanu in 1999 when he was playing for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Sports Brief also reported on top European clubs including Chelsea and Atletico Madrid monitoring Osimhen’s contract situation.
The Nigerian international grabbed his 18th league goal of the season when he scored a stunner against Sassuolo recently.
Osimhen joined Napoli in the summer of 2020 and has grown to become an integral part of the squad under manager, Luciano Spalletti.
