  • Timo Werner has lashed out at former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel for his struggles at the club
  • Werner endured a difficult spell in West London despite arriving with a lot of promise from RB Leipzig
  • Despite being guilty of missing a lot of open chances, he played a key role in Chelsea's Champions League win in 2021

Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner has slammed Thomas Tuchel's tactics during his time in England. Werner spent two years at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League in 2021, before returning to RB Leipzig.

The striker has now faulted Tuchel for forgetting about him, leading to his decision to quit the club early this season. Tuchel was sacked in early September, with Graham Potter taking his place.

Werner has taken personal issue with Chelsea buying Romelu Lukaku at the start of the 2021/2022 season. Lukaku's arrival at the club saw the German get reduced minutes though he was later reinstated after the Belgian developed problems of his own.

"I scored the goals and played good games. Then all this gets a little bit forgotten by the manager; it was not really fair. That was also why I had to move back to Leipzig, to get the enjoyment again.

The biggest problem was he put a striker like Lukaku in front of me in the second season after I won the Champions League by nearly playing every game in the first squad," as quoted by the Mirror.

Lukaku and Tuchel

Lukaku was sent back on loan to Inter Milan after falling out with Tuchel. The Belgian conducted an unathuorised interview where he appeared to question Tuchel's methods.

Chelsea's new ownership bought Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the closure of the transfer window to try and solve their goalscoring issues. Aubameyang has since been dropped by Potter, with Joao Felix joining in on a short-term loan in January.

Lukaku's clash with Barella

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Romelu Lukaku exchanged some bitter words with his Inter Milan teammate, Nicolo Barella on February 13.

Inter Milan were in action against Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Monday night as they attempted to close Napoli's gap at the top of the Serie A table.

Head coach, Simone Inzaghi handed Lukaku a rare start as he partnered him with Lautaro Martinez. The Belgian has struggled for game time since coming back to Milan on loan from Chelsea.
