  • Arsenal icon Emmanuel Petit has slammed three Gunners players ahead of their EPL clash against Man City
  • He urged Mikel Arteta to consider a change, saying Gabriel, Saliba, and Martinelli look 'average' and 'tired'
  • It remains to be seen how the Gunners could line up ahead of their clash against the reigning champions

Arsenal legend, Emmanuel Petit has named three Gunners players he wants Mikel Arteta to drop ahead of their Premier League cracker against Manchester City.

The two English giants are set to lock horns on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium in a match that has been touted as a possible title decider.

The fixture comes at a time Arsenal have hit a rough patch, with Arteta's men in danger of losing their grip at the top of the standings.

Only three points separate the two teams ahead of the Emirates showdown, following the hosts' recent slump that has seen them drop points against Everton and Brentford.

According to The Mirror, City could potentially move to the summit of the table should they earn a positive result against the home side.

Petit wants Arsenal trio dropped

Speaking ahead of the Wednesday night clash, Petit hit out at three Arsenal stars who he believes are 'average' and 'tired', advising Arteta to consider a change.

"Saliba and Gabriel don’t look the same defenders as they used to a few months ago. In the last couple of games, they look average. Especially Saliba, he is not playing like he was earlier this season," Petit told Compare.bet.

On Gabriel Martinelli, Petit added:

"He looks tired - mentally and physically. I would also say he has a tough time due to the tactical setup."

Should Arteta heed Petit's advice, the Arsenal boss could potentially drop Martinelli in favour of January arrival, Leandro Trossard.

How Arsenal can win EPL

Sports Brief earlier analysed what Arsenal must do to win the Premier League title, and it all borders around outwitting Man City.

The Gunners need to beat the record number of points for a league champion - 100 - set by Pep Guardiola's men in the 2018/19 season.

They must also pick up the maximum points in their two legs against the Citizens, starting tomorrow night at the Emirates Stadium.
