Ajax midfielder Steven Berghuis has praised teammate and Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus following his outstanding performances for the Dutch champions this season.

Kudus netted his eighth goal of the Eredivisie campaign as Ajax came from a goal down to beat KRC Waalwijk 3-1 at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was named Man of the Match, his third in the last five games.

Berghuis, who assisted Kudus with his goal, is surprised by the midfielder's abilities.

“Sometimes I'm amazed at what this guy can do,” he told de Telegraaf as quoted by Pulse.
“On the training ground, he sometimes dribbles past a few players so easily. He does this now in games [also]. These are guys who can make a difference.”

Kudus has been Ajax's livewire this season, netting 13 goals and providing three assists across all competitions.

The Black Stars midfielders World Cup performances earned his attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Manchester United and Barcelona.

However, the attacking midfielder stayed in the Netherlands as the winter transfer window ended without making a move.

His explosive displays have since Ajax close the gap on league leaders Feyenoord to three points.

Kudus scores stunner against Waalwijk

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that red-hot Mohammed Kudus scored again, as Ajax came from behind to beat RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.

The Ghana international sealed victory for the Dutch giants in the 3-1 win after meeting a lovely cross from the right.

Kudus, who netted the winner in midweek against FC Twente, was also named Man of the Match.

Kudus praises Heitinga for form

Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has revealed that his role under new Ajax manager John Heitinga has allowed him the freedom to express himself on the pitch.

Kudus netted the match-winner on Thursday night as Ajax defeated FC Twente to progress in the KNVB Dutch Cup.

The 22-year-old has now scored three and provided an assist since Heitinga took over as first team coach and has been Man of the Match in three games.
