The race for the 2022/23 Premier League Golden Boot race is slowly taking shape as the season wears out.

Despite hitting a rough patch in recent weeks, Haaland is topping the goalscoring charts with an eyewatering 25 goals to his name.

Erling Haaland's struggles

However, the former Borussia Dortmund hotshot's goals have dried up recently, going by his standards.

Given his recent injury suffered over the weekend, Haaland is in danger of being caught by Harry Kane, his closest challenger for the Golden Boot.

Kane, who has won the award on three occasions, is currently second on the goalscoring chart with 17 goals.

The Englishman had a chance to further close the gap on Haaland, but he fired blanks during Tottenham Hotspur's trip to the King Power Stadium.

Ivan Toney eyes Golden Boot

Brentford superstar, Ivan Toney is the other player in the frame to challenge for the Golden Boot award this season.

The forward was pivotal in helping the Bees secure promotion to the top flight with his goals and has not looked back since then, having already scored 14 Premier League goals this season.

Toney's latest strike came over the weekend against league leaders, Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, previous Golden Boot winner, Mohamed Salah is down to 14th on the charts with just seven goals to his name.

Salah's underwhelming season comes at a time when Liverpool are also enduring a disastrous season that has seen them collect just eight wins in 20 outings.

Below are the top 10 Premier League top scorers as of Monday, February 13:

1. Erling Haaland (Man City) - 25 goals

2. Harry Kane (Tottenham) - 17 goals

3. Ivan Toney (Brentford) -14 goals

4. Marcus Rashford (Man United) - 12 goals

5. Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) - 11 goals

6. Rodrigo (Leeds) - 10 goals

7. Miguel Almiron (Newcastle) - 10 goals

8. James Maddison (Leicester) - 9 goals

Guardiola's update on Haaland injury

Sports Brief earlier reported on Guardiola providing updates on Haaland, after the striker was brought off at 3-0 against Aston Villa.

The manager revealed the Norwegian got a knock and felt uncomfortable, stating it was not worth the risk to keep him on the pitch.

In case Haaland is not fit, World Cup winner, Julian Alvarez will undoubtedly get the nod against league leaders, Arsenal on Wednesday.
