  • Victor Osimhen is the man of the moment in Italy as he leads Napoli's title charge
  • The Nigerian has scored 16 goals and leads the scorers' chart ahead of compatriot Ademola Lookman with 12 goals
  • His performances have endeared him to Neapolitans and he met some fans ahead of today's game

Napoli are flying high in the Italian Serie A this season and have a 13 points advantage over second- place Inter Milan, a lead which could extend to 16 points if they win today.

At the centre of their title charge, the first since 1990, are Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and Georgian winger Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, both of whom are leading the scorers and assists charts, respectively.

Despite efforts by authorities to stop it, racism still exists in European football, with Blacks and Asians the priority victims across England, Spain, Italy, Germany and other European leagues.

The league leaders are getting ready for action on Sunday evening against Cremonese. The last time the two teams met, Napoli lost 5-4 on penalties in the Coppa Ita lia, as reported by Bleacher Report, while the reverse leave fixture ended 4-1 in favour of Napoli, as reported by Sports Mole.

Osimhen stopped by after training yesterday to meet with some fans of the club and was spotted wearing a white t-shirt branded 'stop being racist' - a message to some fans who still engage in the embarrassing act, this was according to a video recirculated on Twitter by GIFN.

In the same video, he was having an exchange with Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba, and both men were conversing in pidgin English, where the striker revealed he had just finished training.

Madrid and Liverpool join race for Osimhen

The Nigerian international is arguably the hottest striker in Europe currently and is already attracting interest from top European clubs from Spain and England.

Manchester United and Chelsea were the first two to have expressed interest, but Real Madrid and Liverpool have also joined the race for the former Lille striker, as earlier reported by Sports Brief.

They will have to part with nothing less than €100m and face an uphill task of convincing Aurelio de Laurentiis to sell his prized asset.
