- Kudus helped the Dutch champions progress to the next stage of the KNVB Cup
Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has revealed that his role under new Ajax manager John Heitinga has allowed him the freedom to express himself on the pitch.
Kudus netted the match-winner on Thursday night as Ajax defeated FC Twente to progress in the KNVB Dutch Cup.
The 22-year-old has now scored three and provided an assist since Heitinga took over as first team coach, and has been Man of the Match in three games.
"It's a new position for me, but the most important thing is that I get the freedom to play the way I want to play. The coach gives me that freedom. I don't feel limited and I do my best for the team. It is a new position for me and therefore also good for my development. We also sometimes switch positions. That also makes us unpredictable as a team," he said as quoted by Ajax media.

Kudus, who has been in top form for the Dutch giants this season, was often rotated with Brian Brobbey under former manager Alfred Schreuder. The Black Stars player played most of the games as a false nine.
Meanwhile, his role on the right side of midfield has seen him create a good partnership with captain Dusan Tadic.
“That is one of Dusan's qualities: seeing where you can make the pass. I knew where to move and that the ball would get there. And that is exactly what happened,” said Kudus.
He has now scored 12 goals and provided three assists across all compactions for the Dutch champions this season.
Kudus was Ghana's star at the World Cup, where he scored two goals and provided an assist in three matches.
